Smoking ban ?

Since I don't smoke I rather welcome it, but statistics seem to indicate that drinking is a much more serious problem than smoking. Is that next ? And how will a Govt already 'short of money' fill the tax gap ?

I find it extraordinary how people are tolerating the most outrageous interference with their personal freedom nowadays...I too objected publicly and privately to the Iraq war but, as with most things nowadays, the government totally ignored the hundreds of thousands of objectors, but there are far more personal freedoms being removed from us now in the name of homeland security, health, public safety and all sorts of other headings. It seems it's happening all over the world with so called democracies...like Howard's draconian interference with Aborigines and their children...and the odd German ban on Tom Cruise being allowed to make a film there, who I don't like because I think he's nuts with his obsession with Scientology, but to ban him on the grounds of his chosen sect seems extremely dangerous to me...where will it end?
Drinkers must be next in line for a ban...the new one will probably be instant on the spot fines for anybody seen drinking alcohol other than in an acceptable area designated a drinking area...like a public house... Or the obese...anybody seen eating food outside of a restaurant or cafe etc...will be fined...madness... question is...who do you vote in who isn't going to do these crazy things? Every party seems to have it's pet hate...this smoking ban is just the start I fear...

While I am a non smoker I have no problem`s with anyone smoking .
If they choose to die a horrible death with cancer or end up having limbs cut off let them do it as I could`nt care less one little bit .
I do object to being forced to breathe smoker`s cigarette smoke .

As for the Government doing what they want .Well of course they do . They do what the hell they like they have always done that and they will always do it .
No matter what government that is in power here or anywhere the one thing they are good at and that is making fools of the of people as we never learn .

I don't suppose the cigarettes do as much damage as the bullets and bombs can.

In life I am for everything in moderation.

Politics is probably even more stupid here in New Zealand - A Nanny Nation - if you can work that out.
