Charles Clark and Alan Milburn were reported today to have set up a web site to consult with the British people. When 1.5 million of us all shouted ' not in my name ' they failed to hear ! The down right impudence to talk about consulting now after they have spent our money fighting in Iraq and in the process so many innocent lives have been lost.
What frightens me is that politicians change the subject when they have made such a serious mistake and hope the electorate will forget. Please readers dont forget now or ever.

First excuse any missplelings as I only heard the news did not read it !
A bomb exploded at Baghram Air Base and the item explained that the US Vice President was safe and uninjured and had gone inside a bomb shelter. The news reader said the terrorists only got as far as an outside entry point. Almost as an after thought he added that two US servicemen had been killed. When politicians realise that the two servicemen have just the same value as the Vice President the fighting might have a chance of stopping.
I am appauled when I hear our politicians refer to ordinary people. It explains why they have bloated salaries, gold plated pensions, and spend tax payers money like water.

Software that doesn't work
Farmers subsidies unpaid or late,

But worst of all it is all those innocent lives lost in Iraq and no end to it. There was one party which opposed the Iraq war; dont forget that point. David.

Every few weeks about a year ago the phone rand and a man announced that he was from AZ1 Assett Management [ Name has been changed because I dont want to be sued ]. He wanted to recommend shares in a US company that made an inhaling drug for diabetics. Normally I would not have listened but my company has been working on needle-less injection using different techniques. So I believed his story though still a bit skeptical. Finally I sent £1000 by bank transfer to test his prediction that the shares would take off because nobody likes injecting themselves. Then more phones calls started and he wanted me to buy £10,000 s of shares in the same company. I resisted taking out a loan to buy the shares and told him that I would watch what happened first. Neeedless to say the share price has gone steadily down and before Xmas I demanded that he sell the shares and refund what was left of the money. Then he needed passport copies, marriage certificate ; you name it he needed it. Then the statements showed $400 US tax taken despite the loss sustained. Still I'm waiting for the few remaining dollars to be returned. But the loss would have paid for a nice holiday. The irony is that you could have stuck a pin anywhere in the share index and invested to make a profit, anywhere that is except for the company he recommended . Of course there is commission on investing and on withdrawing from the market. Its win win for him if the law doesn't catch up with AZ Assett Management. I understand that it is illegal to sell shares over the phone. But now I have done my duty and warned any would be victims. If it is too good to be true it is too good to be true ! David.

The BBC news ' World at One ' reported that Prince Harry was going to fight for Queen and Country. Did he not see the 1.5 million protestors in London with very clear placards ' NOT IN MY NAME '.
He may be going on behalf of Bliar but sure and certain is not going for me. Please comment everybody.
I wish him no ill, I hope he is safe but I also wish he had enough intelligence not to go.I also wish his Grandmother would put Bliar in his place. [ Tower of London ? ]

This morning I heard a 20 minute interview on BBC Radio 4 where Tony Blair justified his actions in invading Iraq. I thought that he stood reason on its head but am interested to hear comments from other bloggers. Please tell me I'm not alone in feeling sickened that he is still PM. Why don't his colleagues boot him out now ? They are all guilty by association perhaps ?

In response to the lovely poems of La-spice posted here I wanted to find some my poems that I wrote about 1994 or 1995 and which were first put onto an old Acer lap top then tranferred in 1998 to a Toshiba lap top, then transferred to one of three hard drives on the now elderly PC that I am using. I got close to finding them in about twenty minutes but while looking I suddenly thought that when people with computers die who will look for old poems or images. Its not like it used to be when my Mother had 10 albums of photographs and you could trace our family history and holidays. The old PCs will get dumped in a skip and there will be no record.
Using the find facility only works where you remember key words or titles and after 10 or 15 years you yourself might remember wrongly and certainly others won't know that they are there at all.

Just a thought; we should keep paper copies of important things for posterity.

Did anybody miss the irony of Bliar talking about extending the law to 16 year olds who carry guns? This was another day when 60 Iraqis died and 120 were injured in one city, Bahgdad. It was he who supported ' Shock and Awe ' and also supported attempts at assassinating Sadam in which many civilians were killed. Alice in wonderland has nothing on our situation.
Five years is much too long for a Parliament when politicians refuse to resign over such extreme political misjudgements.

Yesterday after 7 days work I got out detecting in good sunny conditions. Its nearly the end for a while as all the stubble fields are being ploughed. This hopefully is what I found ! If you recognise it tell me or its age or anything interesting about it.

'You'll never make money working in an untidy room like yours', she told me. She said the same about the utility room. I cannot renew that until an old gas meter is removed. But Scottish Gas Networks seem to have forgotten that they promised to come and survey it 4 weeks ago ! Before I can install new cupboards the wretched meter must go. Anyway I have spent the last few days clearing out my office by throwing away business plans and junk now several years old. What is amazing is how you discover the important pieces of paper lost amongst the dross. Already there is a transformation and I am beginning to believe that my Sisters advice might have been correct. I found lots of unread books that must have arrived as presents. Best of all my office feels much more pleasant and there are now spaces to put working papers down.
The weather has been so cold and windy that the prospect of going out with my metal detector has not appealed thus freeing up time for a clear out.
In case anybody reads this rather mundane account of my winter days let me say something positive and recommend the Virtual University [ cyberspace teaching institution ] which only charges modest fees for all the courses it offers. Want to be writers could do a terms course for $15 when I last looked though the fees may have increased in the last 2 years.

The BBC at 5 pm announced that a radical Muslim had been arested for insulting John Reid; thats what I understood at first though later bulletins spoke of him giving multiple sermons encouraging terrorism. I am the nearest thing to a pacifist that anyone can find but I believe the authors of Shock and Awe are the worst terrorists so this arrest distresses me and I am shocked that Bush and Bliar continue to strut the world stage. Muslims should realise that 75% of the British people opposed the Iraq invasion and like them are also distressed on a daily basis by reports of deaths of all those caught up in the disaster that is ' democratic ' Iraq. Let us press for peace in every possible way. Justice Not War is a campaign which I support.

Well I am still not very comfortable with all the aspects of blogging and making and replying to friends or chatting them up but here goes again.

On Sunday morning I went for the fourth time to a Quaker meeting house; you may know it as the Society of Friends. I like sitting in silence for just one hour each week. But it will surprise you to know that I read Richard Dawkings book or 45 pages of it entitled the God Delusion. I hope I am not being rude if I say his thesis is more or less similar to mine when I went to University at 18. I wanted to read his book to search for holes in it but it is like a tea strainer virtually all holes.
An analogy with Dawkins criticism of religion would be to criticise science because 600 years ago the flat earth was a widely held concept. Sailors really were afraid that if they sailed far enough they would go over the edge. Of course most religious people do not believe that God is a highly intelligent old man who set the Universe in motion and still answers the phone [ prayers ] to all callers.

As I have only read part of the book I will be fair and come back to the subject later. However for 25 years I never went into a church except for weddings and funerals. Then I noticed how the Salvation Army pop up everywhere there is a crisis; when the tsunami occurred or a person is very sick , or folk are in prison, or homeless or alcoholic and then I thought does it matter precisely what they believe ? I concluded that it is their actions which is important not the mutinae of their belief system. Then I thought better to join them rather than carp like Dawkins. The answer seems to me have been well spelled out by the Late Bishop John Robinson when he coined the phrase ' God the ground of our being '.

I will be happy to hear what other bloggers think.

It was a sunny day in Inverness and I took time out to walk the stubble fields waving my detector as close to the ground as possible.
It is not all historic items that one unearths but mainly bits of plough and junk such as bottle tops, ring pulls and the like. Today I pulled out of a rocky bit of field a silver penny probably 600 years old. What a feeling of pleasure when you find it is intact and reasonably unblemished. I will try again to attach the images of obverse and reverse and will be happy to talk to interested bloggers male or female. Women do detect !
